As an Adventurist, Mit combined his passion for aviation and extreme adventure to set a Record for being the First Indian civilian to reach the Edge of Space touching an altitude of 17.3kms (~57,000ft) in a MIG-29UB fighter jet at a top speed of Mach 1.7 (~2,080kmph) whilst enduring up to +7Gs! He is recognized by The Limca Book Of Records and India Book Of Records for this achievement and has also been featured in leading publications such as Bombay Times, Mid-Day and BusinessWorld.in. Headed the Project Synchronization Office of the USD 100M Polyester Yarn brown-field expansion infrastructure project reporting to the Chairman & Board of Directors to accelerate the project which was on the verge of being declared a Non-Performing Asset by lenders to execute 25% faster completing the project in 11 months instead of the projected 18+ months even after a 3 month delay in project start resulting in an early revenue realization of USD 13M.
Accelerated short-visit maintenance time of aircraft at Delta Air Lines TechOps’ Base Maintenance Division increasing throughput by 24% even with 8% fewer resources catapulting on-time delivery from a meagre 14.3% to 66.7% resulting in a significant increase in aircraft availability and revenue potential for TechOps.
US Air Force Materiel Command : Designed the execution strategy and built high-performance team of SMEs to improve the throughput of maintenance squadrons of various weapons platforms such as the B-1B & B-52 Bombers, F-15 Fighters, C-130 & C-17 Transporters, KC-130 Tankers, E-3 AWACS and NASA’s Super Guppy. Improved the on-time delivery of C-130 aircraft from 45% to 85% by increasing throughput by 33% and slashed the turn-times of B1B Lancers by 29% boosting throughput by 47% & generating USD 35M in additional revenues for the squadron by freeing up capacity.
US Army Aviation Maintenance Squadron at CCAD : Spearheaded a Synchronized Program Management solution increasing overall throughout across 6 maintenance lines of Blackhawks, Pavehawks, Chinooks, Apaches, Hueys and Kiowas increasing overall throughput by 16% including 40% increase in the throughput of the high-volume Blackhawks line, 50% decrease in turn time of the Apaches line and 50% improvement in the overall parts availability through work-in-process reductions, resource concentration, superior prioritization mechanism of job cards allocation, shared resources and rapid issue resolution processes.
L&T Shipbuilding Hazira, India : Reduced overall build time of Custom Heavy Lift Ships through Discontinuous Improvement methods reducing build time by 30%, improving plate-cutting output by 60% and boosting block-fabrication output by 75%.
As a Process Reengineer at Delta Air Lines TechOps’ Engine Maintenance & Overhaul Division : became one of the youngest & fastest Continuous Improvement Black Belt; led the GM’s Strategic Initiatives Group team of 15 Managers, SMEs & Black Belts to identify and recover USD 6M from a better shop stock capture and scrap reduction processes.
